In certain demanding applications, carbon adsorption is not the best stand alone application technology.  For example, under conditions such as high hydrogen sulfide or significant ammonia concentrations, the media would be rapidly spent, and replacement costs would render the system cost prohibitive.


Integrating an adsorber system with a biological odor control system or a chemical wet scrubber creates a synergistic approach where the best of each technology is realized.  In this scenario, no technology becomes an oversold, cure-all or panacea for complex and challenging odor control projects. 


The photo shows a wet scrubber, biofilter, and a carbon filter in a series configuration.   The wet scrubber removes ammonia to less than 1 p.p.m., whereas the biofilter eliminates high levels of hydrogen sulfide, and carbon adsorber removes trace yet detectable ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, and organic odors.  The performance is unmatched by any single stand alone technology.


F Series

P Series

Constructed of durable high density polyethylene (HDPE), the P Series adsorber is designed to be both economical and effective for low flow rate odor projects.


The P Series units are available for passive or active ventilation applications.


The top mounted blower configuration shown in the photo is our most compact, active ventilation odor control system for projects requiring 500 CFM or less.


P-Series Systems Feature:

NØDOR™ Manhole Odor Eliminator

The NØDOR manhole eliminator eliminates odors emanating from manholes.  This cost-effective and easy to install system is specifically designed for the removal of hydrogen sulfide and other reduced sulfur based odors.  


Each unit contains a custom made insert adapter that rests on the lip of the manhole frame.  The outer piece is custom made based on the frame dimensions.  The inner adapter is sized to house a replaceable, standardized odor filter cartridge.  The cartridge is inexpensive and easy to replace.  The inner adapter also functions to capture and drain away rain water.  The adapter protects the carbon from being washed down the sewer.


Each cartridge contains enough high capacity carbon to remove 11.7 pounds of hydrogen sulfide--up to 50% more than competitive brands.  Specialty adsorber medias such as Sulfatreat™ 410 CHP will remove double that amount.  A break-through sensor is an added feature which allows for a simple visual determination of whether media needs replacement.

  • Sulfatreat™ 410 CHP: pelletized iron oxide proprietary media for high hydrogen sulfide plus light mercaptans removal.  Ranked #1 by the Gas Research Institute for the removal of H2S.  Ideal for high humidity climates.  Media works wet or dry. Ideal for reduced pressure drop applications.

Activated Carbons

  • 4 x 8 B: granular, activated carbon derived from bituminous coal.  Mesh size is 4 x 8.  Ideal for odor control and organic odor removal applications.
  • 4 x 8 S: granular activated coconut shell carbon with 4 x 8 mesh size for air purification systems.

Potassium Permanganate Medias

  • PPA 8: spherical activated alumina impregnated with 8% potassium permanganate for odor and corrosion control.
  • PPA 12: spherical activated alumina impregnated with 12% potassium permanganate for odor and corrosion control. This is the most concentrated product on the market.
  • Spectrum HS-600: a silicate compound impregnated with potassium permanganate.  Ideal for applications like the adsorption and oxidation of polar or lower molecular weight compounds.
  • Spectrum XB-17: a 50/50 blend of HS-600 and activated carbon.



Ammonia Removal

  • IPA: granular activated carbon derived from coconut shells and specifically impregnated for the removal of ammonia from vapor streams.  This unique product is available in other mesh sizes as well as in a coal based pelletized form.  Standard mesh size is 4 x 8.

Specialty Activated Carbons

  • Chloratreat: impregnated zeolite substance with no less than 2.40 lbs of sodium thiosulfate per cubic foot of media.  Ideal for the removal of chlorine and chlorine dioxide from air streams.
  • Powdered FG: Powdered coal activated carbon for flue gas.
  • Powdered AG+: Powdered coal activated carbon for agricultural applications.
  • IPSg: granular activated carbon for removal of mercury vapors.
  • IPSp: pelletized activated carbon for removal of mercury vapors.
  • IPP: impregnated carbon for the removal of Formaldehyde.
  • IT: impregnated carbon for the removal of radiated materials.
  • 6 x 12-GM: granular coconut shell activated carbon for gold mining.


Color Changing Medias

  • OCP&E® offers a wide array of color changing medias.   These medias indicate, via color change, when media is spent and requires replacement.
